Functional testing from a business perspective

A conventional definition of Testing is the systematic investigation of a particular software and providing information as to its quality.

Our particular approach is broader and includes analysis of the factors that are critical for the company from a perspective based on knowledge of our clients’ businesses.

Why do testing?

To cut costs. Good testing can translate into saving money, by reducing and mitigating the risk of failures. Detection of errors at early stages in the development process implies a significantly lower cost than if the same errors are detected when the application is already in production.

To maximize reliability. Doing testing during all of the phases of a software’s life cycle guarantees delivery and startup of an application with a minimum number of failures, maximizing both internal and external reliability.

To avoid negative impacts on internal and external agents. Software not properly tested can have a negative impact, both on the company and its context (clients/suppliers/outside users).

To avoid resistance to change. An application that functions with errors increases resistance to change among users. We should avoid adding application malfunctioning to the stress that can be generated by a simple change in system.

To measure progress and quality. Application of metrics makes it possible to measure progress on testing tasks and tracking of improvements in software quality.

To stand out from the crowd. Taking into account the fundamental role software plays in day-to-day company operations, having appropriately tested software will make the difference over the competition.

To access dedicated and specialized resources. Integration of external agents and equipment makes it possible to do the job better, thanks to the application of specific testing methods and techniques, and the contribution afforded by experience in other projects.

To obtain a critical, independent vision. Analysis by external users provides a critical, objective vision, in progress reports on test performance and on the quality of the system’s functioning.

Our Applications Testing Services focus on performing tasks related to:

  • Function requirements. Verification that the system reflects exactly what the client wants.
  • Testing strategies. Consultancy as to what tests to plan and how to plan them.
  • Critical points for the business. Understanding the critical aspects of the business and including them in the testing plan.
  • Testing plan. Definition of what to test, how to test and when to test. Intelligent casuistic design.

  • UAT (User Acceptance Testing). Support to the end user to validate whether the application meets the originally defined acceptance standards.
  • Go – No Go. Support to senior management to define when the system is to go into to production, if it is ready to function in the company’s real operations.
